The Charleston Duck Race

WhatThe Rotary Charity Duck Race was established by the Rotary Club of Daniel Island in 2007.  This fund raising event has grown each year since and now includes other Rotary Clubs in the greater Charleston area.  Individually numbered rubber ducks are dropped from the high-a-top the I-526 Wando River Bridge.  The ducks race to a dock on the Waterfront Park on Daniel Island.  There is fun for the entire family with activities for children and food/beverages available for purchase. The first 30 ducks to cross the finish line win valuable prizes.  However, the big winners are the charities (see “Why” below).

Who: The Rotary Club of Daniel Island and participating Rotary Clubs are seeking individuals and businesses to adopt ducks for a suggested donation of $10 per duck.  Sponsorships, with additional benefits, are available starting at $1,000.

Why: The profits from this event are used to fund Rotary Community Service Programs and for direct donations to charities focused on hunger, housing, health and wellness, and literacy.

Over the past four years, this event has raised over $400,000 for local beneficiaries and Rotary projects worldwide.
