Our Club History

The Rotary Club of Daniel Island was chartered in July 19, 2001, with 33 charter members and sponsored by the North Charleston Breakfast Rotary. Throughout our first few years, as we have grown, we have moved our regular Wednesday morning meeting to several place on Daniel Island. Currently, we meet at the Daniel Island Club and we have over 60 members.

Our biggest fundraiser for the past three years has been our annual Charity Duck Race (link). Last year, we were able to raise over $120,000 for local area charities and Rotary projects such as providing clean water worldwide, polio eradication, feeding the hungry, literacy and other local initiatives .

Although a relatively new club, we have achieved several recognitions from our District and Rotary International for our outstanding fundraising activities and service projects. Our Duck Race received recognition as the top service initiative in our district covering Eastern South Carolina. We also were recognized for having the top literacy program in our district.
