Member of the Month - Robert Wood
Bob was born as part of the initial wave of “Baby Boomers” after World War II. He grew up as a preacher’s kid and moved several times as his father served several churches in the New York – Connecticut area.
In college, Bob studied economics as an undergraduate and both economics and public administration in graduate school. After school, he began his career with the Atomic Energy Commission, part of which later became the Nuclear Regulatory Commission where he continued to work. In 2002, after thirty-one years, Bob officially retired but continued as a consultant to the nuclear power industry.
But is married to Carol Wood and moved to Daniel Island in June 2004. Besides participation in Rotary service projects, he and his wife do other volunteer work and enjoy traveling. Of course, like everyone else in the last year, their “wings” have been clipped but they very much look forward to traveling again once they have received the Covid-19 vaccine. In the meantime, Bob keeps busy with other hobbies which include philately, reading, and working out.
Bob joined the Rotary Club of Daniel Island in early 2006 and held various offices in the club, culminating in being

selected as club president for the 2010-2011 year. He say he initially joined Rotary because of the good that it does both in the community as well as worldwide. That, along with the fellowship it affords, continues to motivate him as an active member of the Rotary Club of Daniel Island.
