March 3 – Chad Vail, Work-based Learning Partnerships Coordinator, Charleston County School District. Not all high school kids are interested in a college degree. As an alternative, Chad connects students with career exploration opportunities like industry visits, job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships. With years of experience owing and operating small businesses in the area Chad learned firsthand that most job applicants were unprepared for their interview. Most employees were inexperienced with personal finance, and had a limited understanding of the direct correlation between their efforts and the overall success of the business. His goal is to help all students prepare to take a leadership role in their college and career preparation.
