April 16 (DI Club) -- Marc Fetten, Founder of Green Gas USA. Green Gas has teamed up with the Pilgrim’s Pride poultry processing center in Sumter to turn chicken waste into natural gas. There was an article in the Post and Courier about this project back in January. It is also teaming up with the S.C.
Department of Corrections to convert manure from the PeeDee Prison Farm into natural gas. Green Gas uses sealed, oxygen-free tanks to deposit farm waste, unusable crops or other organic material, break it down to produce methane which is the primary component of natural gas. The otherwise harmful methane is then converted to natural gas and injected into a pipeline that businesses can tap into. Indeed, one of their customers is Mercedes Benz Vans. Fascinating process.
