September 20 (Daniel Island Club (6:30 p.m.) – Speaker’s Series – Ben Towill and Charlie Layton. 

two guys rowed across the Atlantic Ocean to benefit the Green Hearts organization. Owner of Basic Kitchen, Ben Towill, and Executive Chef, Charlie Layton participated in the 2022 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, a 3000-mile unassisted row on the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera, Canary Islands, to

English Harbor, Antigua. They completed the journey in their 25-foot rowboat in 40 days. Do the math! Amazing! These hospitality pros behind Basic Kitchen and the renovated Post House tackled this challenge to raise money for Green Hearts which is an organization that builds school garden programs to educate students, connect people, and cultivate community. It is an organization that our Rotary Club supports. Their journey has been widely documented in the lowcountry by the Post and courier, Charleston Magazine, Garden and Gun, and the Charleston City Paper.
