1/20/2021 - Rotary Recap - Erin Dudley - DI Development Co.

January 20, 2021 - Rotary Recap. The Daniel Island Rotary Club welcomed Erin Dudley, the Community Services Manager for Point Hope, an exciting new community on the Cainhoy Peninsula. Erin spoke of how the Daniel Island Development Corporation is creating this new multi-use area by building on Charleston’s History, learning from Daniel Island and the Guggenheim influence, since they owned the land for about 75 years and used it for hunting and fishing. The development was planned by laying out walking and biking trails before roads, acknowledging the importance of honoring this beautiful 1,900 piece of land on the Cainhoy Peninsula. Member Kevin Condon told his story, focusing on his time in quarantine and all that he has accomplished including projects around the house, walking 50 miles a week and learning how to cook. Dr. Bill Greene updated us on the Peru Project where the Daniel Island Rotary partnered with seven other Rotary Clubs in the area, and Rotary International, to fund 200 high-tech latrines that were installed by Water Missions.
