6/9/2021 - Rotary Recap - Doran Berger

June 9, 2021 - Rotary Recap. Doran Berger, co-founder and long time franchise owner of Panera Bread, was our speaker at our weekly breakfast meeting held in person and virtually. Doran was born in Romania and moved to Israel. After serving in the Israeli Army in 1970 he moved to St. Louis to pursue his American dream. The Bakery-Cafe concept started on Black Monday and by 1993 there were 180 locations. At one point he owned 90 cafes in 21 years but has since sold these locations. He attributes Panera success that the focus was on the quality of the product which he admits was difficult to execute. Our past scholarship recipients and their families were in attendance to provide our members updates on their education and service opportunities.
