Congratulations to this year’s scholarship winners, Emma Albano and Afua Lincoln. Emma is Bishop England’s valedictorian and plans to attend the University of Notre Dame. Emma is an all star athlete and leader. She also spends her time volunteering for causes that she cherishes. Afua is graduating from Philip Simmons second in her class and will attend Claflin University. Afua is an extremely talented artist and she will pursue a career in forensic science. Alfua Lincoln, daughter of Peggy and Fred Lincoln, is senior at Philip Simmons High School, where she ranks #2 in her class. Alfua will be attending Claflin University in the fall to major in chemistry, pursuing a career in forensic science. In her spare time, Alfua enjoys painting and drawing, and recently won first place in the Home Telecom phonebook cover contest.
Emma is class valedictorian at Bishop England, where in addition to her academic endeavors, she has consistently been involved in multiple clubs and sports. She is a member of the Random Acts of Kindness Club, class boards, Pro-Life Club, Retreat Team, National Honor Society, Christian Students Missionary of Charity club, committee leader on SGA, and is the president of Mu Alpha Theta and Bellas.
An accomplished athlete, Emma has been the captain of the cross country, basketball, and track teams. She is also a state champion and all-region selection for the girls basketball team as well as back-to-back discus state champion and a two time AAA Track and Field State Champion.
Emma is also active in her church, where she volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul on Saturday mornings. She also volunteers her time tutoring younger students in multiple subjects at school. Emma plans on attending the University of Notre Dame, studying biochemistry and neuroscience and will be a walk-on on the track and field team.
Emma is BE’s valedictorian for the class of 2020.
