Rotary Recap - 1/8/2020 - New Year Off To A Busy Start

The first day back was an extremely busy one.  The breakfast meeting with filled with information and updates. ​

Director of Community Service, Jonathan Bennett, reminded Members that the monthly goal of the Club is 1 hands-on project and 1 service project.  On Jan 18th, the hands-on project will be for  Habitat with Humanity, and the drive is for the Methodist Church's Men's Cold Weather Shelter. Members are asked to bring undergarments, t-shirts, and socks (large and extra-large) to the meetings this month. 

Director of Membership, Mary Jo Romeo Pappas, announced a Discover Rotary event on January 28, 2020 at the Daniel Island Club. Members are encouraged to reach out to friends that might be interested in learning more about our club. 

Director of International Projects, Dr. Bill Greene, explained the impact and the progress of the sanitary latrines in Peru.  He also provided an update of the hobby club Nail Bangers and their efforts to help people in the Cainhoy Community.

Several members received Paul Harris Fellow recognition.  We are grateful for your generosity.  Those members that received this prestigious award are as follows: Jeffrey Gross, Mary Jo Romeo Pappas, Chip Law, Scott Garcia, Bill Cannon (and he also recognized his wife Michelle Cannon as a Paul Harris Fellow in her honor), Bill Thielfoldt, Billie Bacon, Jerry Bacon, Bob Wood, and Bill Stevens. 

The evening ended with a field trip to Trident Technical Center's Aeronautical Training Center led by Member Bob Walker. Afterwards, Members enjoyed some fellowship and shared a meal at Lola's, coordinated by the Dining Out Hobby Club.
