Rotary Recap - 10/6/2021 - Membership Assembly

October 6th, 2021 Rotary Recap Tom Butz led us in the induction, and LaDonna offered up a couple of hilarious jokes about women in the pandemic.

Steve Britt delivered the "About Me" speech. The three chapters of his life, starting with growing up in the other Charleston (WV), his insurance law career in California, before working in Washington in 4 administrations. He moved to Daniel Island in 2019 for the last and best chapter of his life, where he splits his professional time between Washington DC and Charleston, working on Internet law. Kevin inducted Michael Geier into the Daniel Island Rotary, and LaDonna received her white badge.

Susan Garcia, who has been an outstanding Rotarian and producer of our newsletter, told us of the exciting news of selling the UPS store and moving to Naples, where she is building a house.

Shout out to Chip Law, who is just shy of the 1000 mile mark as the leader of Run with Bernie. Kudos also to Evan for motivating the team over the finish line.

Bill Cannon led us in the Ace of Spades with no winners this week. But the big winner is Polio which added another $29 to the pot. Mary Jo spoke of the launch of the Satellite Club, with Michael Cole as the liaison. Come out to Indigo Brewery on October 13th. Chili cookoff on October 27th. Prayers went out to those that are suffering from Covid or recovering from recent procedures. Kevin led a session on Membership and gave some statistical updates. Teams reported on why they are involved with the Club and what would get them more engaged. Occurring themes were people, people, and events that help younger folks meet work/family responsibilities while also participating in Rotary.
