Ashley Henya, Executive Director of Low Country Red Cross, was our weekly breakfast speaker at our virtual breakfast meeting. The Low Country Red Cross covers 9 counties in South Carolina. The tornadoes that took place earlier this month in this state were the strongest since 1984, and the Red Cross were there to provide housing and meals to those impacted. The Red Cross provides a variety of services from supplying blood, military and veterans support, international contact to US citizens, training services such as CPR and fire prevention, and disaster support (home fires, tornadoes, and hurricanes). They are the largest supplier of blood in the United States. The Red Cross' mission is to be there for those who are suffering, and they are pivoting about how to provide traditional disaster relief services to assisting those during this pandemic. Our Club will be exploring opportunities to partner with this organization in order to provide additional support to our local community.
Members will be receiving information as to Zoom Training on upcoming leadership opportunities and a rescheduled District Conference.
Jonathan updated the Members on the many Community Service Projects that have been undertaken in support of critical needs related to Covid-19. In conjunction with the Daniel Island Community Funds and the generous residents of Daniel Island, to-date more than $50,000 has been raised to support ECCO, ECMOW and the LowCountry Food Bank.
