Each year the Rotary Club of Daniel Island and other participating Charleston-area Rotary Clubs present the Rotary Charity Duck Race. 30,000 rubber ducks are propelled down Smythe Park Lake on Daniel Island by the Charleston Fire Department. Each numbered duck has been “adopted” by a generous person who is eligible for one of many great prizes.

The first-place prize in 2019 was $10,000.

The event is an evening of fun that is now partnered with the “Sounds of Summer” concert series on the island!  There are games, jump castles, face painters, music, food vendors, live music and more! Please plan to bring the whole family every year to enjoy this community event.

The proceeds of the race all go to local charities and Rotary programs that address Hunger and Nutrition, Families and Children, Literacy and Education, Housing and Shelter, Health and Wellness, Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Changing Lives and Building Better Communities.
