Meeting Recap - 10/11/2023 - Greg Wilsbacher, Curator USC Moving Image Research Collection

Today on our Zoom meeting we had a great presentation by Greg Wilsbacher, Curator for the USC Moving Image Research Collection. This collection contains over 11 million feet of historical video now preserved forever thanks to Greg’s team. This includes a unique collaboration with the Marine Corps in Quantico to digitize and catalogue about 9,000 cans of film from WW1, WW2 and Vietnam that are deteriorating with age. Back in August of 1980, Twentieth Century Fox agreed to donate over $100 million worth of their Movietone footage to USC with the earliest footage in the collection dating back to Aug. 16, 1919.
