Allison Hunt, Patriot's Point

January 29 (Blackbaud)  --  Allison Hunt, Executive Director, Patriot’s Point Naval & Maritime Museum.    Allison became the head of the Patriot’s Point Museum in January 2023.  She was previously the executive director the USS  Yorktown Foundation.  The area around the PP Museum is about to be transformed to include the National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership conference center, a 1,000 space parking garage, expansion of the waterfront boardwalk, and improvements to the town’s soccer fields and stadium. These projects will transform the site into a major tourist destination for the city of Mt. Pleasant.   The 20-year, $100 million infrastructure will presumably be paid for by a 1% increase in the Mt. Pleasant sales tax.  To further complicate the issue the convention center’s location is on a bird sanctuary covered by an easement held by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources through 2048.  This should be an interesting discussion.
