Angela Mac, ED, CEO, Gibbes Museum of Art

August 6 -- Angela Mac, Executive director, CEO, Gibbes Museum of Art. Angela was hired by the Gibbes in1981 as an associate curator. She rose through the ranks of curator of collections, chief curator, and executive director before stepping into the role as CEO in 2023. She has organized more than 300 exhibitions and acquired works from such well-known artists as Edward Hopper, Jasper Johns and, earlier this year, Mike Winkelmann also know as “Beeple”. Through her leadership the Gibbes has become known as one of the premier cultural institutions in the country. She is celebrated for her commitment to inclusivity, education, and the power of art to connect communities. After a 44-year career Angela plans to retire in October.
