March 24, Chris Singleton, Director of Community Outreach, Charleston River Dogs. The River Dogs season will soon be starting. The River Dogs long association as a minor league affiliate for the New York Yankees ended last season. The River Dogs are now associated with the Tampa Bay Rays whose well-developed farm system has been an important part of the Rays success in recent years highlighted by the team advancing to the 2020 World Series. Chris was a standout, 3-year member of the Charleston Southern baseball team. He was selected in the 19th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs and spent two seasons in the minor leagues with the South Bend Cubs before retiring from the game as a player last year. Chris has become a nationally-renowned speaker whose message of forgiveness following the loss of his mother in the Mother Emanuel tragedy helped galvanize the Charleston community.
