June 5 (DI Club) -- Dr. Marion Platt, Executive Director and Pastor of Star Gospel Mission. How many of us have heard of Star Gospel Mission? I suspect very few. That is the point. We perhaps need to know more. It turns out that when Dr. Platt was a high school kid in West Ashely. his dad, homeless and lost in drugs and alcohol was living at Star Gospel Mission. Now, 30 years later, Pastor Marion runs the place that took his father off the street. Dr. Platt served a couple of tours as an infantryman in the U.S. Army and then began a 19-year ministry with the Salvation Army. He is also a 19-year veteran of the Rotary Club of Charleston.
