Eric Lavendar, Charleston Pirate Tours

June 7 (Daniel Island Club) – Eric Lavendar, Charleston Pirate Tours. 

Eric and his wife Samantha are the owners of Charleston Pirate Tours. In 2009 Eric and Sabrina ditched their corporate jobs and became pirates. They have backgrounds in tourism, theater, and marketing, along with pet parrots, so a walking tour complete with living history components was a natural fit. They are also avid researchers and native South Carolinians, so their expertise extends well beyond piracy to include all aspects of Charleston. And indeed, a portion of their sales are donated to the Power Magazine Museum in downtown Charleston. Their tours have been talked about on the Today Show, the Travel Channel, Lifetime, PBS, and NPR, and been featured in the United Airlines Magazine and in USA Today. Eric has spoken at the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club and has been invited back several times. Somehow I can see yet another Rotary gathering in the works on one of their tours.
