About the event

July 19 (Daniel Island Club) -- Marissa Jamarik, Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, Roper St. Francis Healthcare. South Carolina already has too few nurses and is expected to be among the four states with the worst per capita nursing shortage by 2030. You care. Longer wait times, delayed care, and even patient harm can result from an inadequate number of nurses. It is not an easy fix. There is a distinct shortage of nurse educators in our colleges and universities, and a limited number of direct-care clinical opportunities to prepare students. In her role as the Chief Nursing Officer at Roper, she is well aware of the problem and will give us some insight in what is being done nationally as well as at Roper St. Francis to address the problem. Marissa has been at Roper for two years, but previously had a 25-year career at Inova Health System in Leesburg VA.
