April 1 -- Nick Kalkas -- President of the Daniel Island Neighborhood Association (DINA). As everybody probably knows, DINA’s mission is to preserve and enhance the qualify of life on Daniel Island. It advocates for DI in resolving issues needing the attention of the City of Charleston, Berkeley County, and the State of S.C. Nick is well qualified for his position. He is a retired U.S. Navy Commander and combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, followed by service as a United States diplomat. He got his undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy, a master’s degree from Georgetown, and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He and his wife Hoce are owners of Daniel Island Wealth Management. They live in Etiwan Park and have three daughters, one of which attends Bishop England and the other two go to the Daniel Island School. Both DINA…
