About the event
The Daniel Island Community Speaker’s Series will resume with a Zoom webinar on Wednesday evening, September 9, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Given all that has transpired in the past several months we have chosen to have a virtual gathering only at this time. We will return to the Daniel Island Club once it is safe to do so.
Our speaker that evening will be Jody Stallings. Jody is an 8th grade English teacher at Moultrie Middle School. He also writes the “Teacher to Parent” column which appears every week on the Op-ed page of the Moultrie News. He recently spoke at one of our weekly Rotary meetings and we assure you this is a presentation you will not want to miss. There is a reason why he is an award winning teacher.
Jody’s columns focus on parent participation, proper discipline, and the importance of guidance for students from both parents and teachers. He is unafraid to tell a student that his or her behavior is criminal, or inform parents that their actions are the cause of the problem. A rather refreshing approach.
Here is a link to his latest column:
Jody has published a number of short stories, written several local works for adolescents including eight films, eight stage plays, twelve teleplays and is currently completing the final book in a series of ten gothic novels set in a small southern town which he has been working on since he was 21.
Along the way he has won numerous awards – Charleston County Teacher of the Year, Walmart teacher of the year, runner-up for National Educator of the year, the WCSC Golden Apple Award.
The program will begin promptly at 7:00 pm and will conclude around 8:00 pm. You might want to join the meeting a few minutes early.
