September 8 (Zoom) – Preservation Society of Charleston, Elizabeth (Betsy) Kirkland Cahill,Executive Director. The Preservation Society has been around since 1920 when a group of concerned citizens joined forces to save the 1802 Manigault house which had been slated for destruction. Its mission today is to protect our city from the impacts of over-tourism, over-development and flooding. It is well known for its Carolopolis awards which can be seen on homes throughout the historic district signifying that the owner did an outstanding job of preserving the historic property.
