April 8 -- Rear Admiral (Ret.) Jamie Sands -- The Special Operations Warrior Foundation and topics of his choice. Admiral Sands is one of a very select group. Today the Navy has 336 thousand sailors on active duty and another 101 thousand in the reserves. There are 232 Admirals. If you do the math less than 0.1% of Navy personnel will ever reach the rank of Admiral. When he last spoke to us from Germany in March 2023 he was Commander of Special Operations Command Africa, Navy Seal Team EIGHT. He eventually rose to be Commander of Naval Special Warfare command which means he was in charge of all Navy SEAL teams. All-in-all he had 33 years of conducting a broad spectrum of complex special operations in extreme environments to identify and neutralize threats to global security and stability. That is way cool!
