June 14 (Zoom) – Brian Gilhuly, Founder and CEO, RePower South. Ever wonder how in the world they can pick up our trash and somehow it all gets sorted and re-cycled? Whatever happened to the blue bins? Brian will give us the answers. RePower South was conceived in 2013 but did not start operations until 2019. The company not only views traditional recyclables as commodities, but also waste that typically goes to landfill. Brian said that, “We took a landfill expense, and now we’ve turned that into a revenue stream. That changed the overall dynamic of the economic model, and that’s largely what we set to do.” Former Berkeley County Supervisor, Bill Peagler, said “This innovative approach to recycling is bringing Berkeley County, and South Carolina, into the 21st century. This model encourages citizens to do what is environmentally friendly without the hassle of sorting, proving it is possible to increase recycling efforts in communities.” This is a presentation you do not want to miss.
