November 16 – (Speakers Series) Rob Fowler, Chief Meteorologist, WCBD. This evening will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the speakers series. Rob was our initial speaker and we thought it would be appropriate to bring him back to help us celebrate. Many of us invite Rob into our living rooms every night as we watch the news and weather on WCBD. Rob has been at WCBD since 1987 and shortly thereafter had to deal with Hurricane Hugo. Hopefully he will share with us some of his memories from those few days. Rob has become a very good friend of our Club by allowing us to participate in the “Three-Degree Guarantee”. If Rob guesses the next day’s high temperature within three degrees the designated charity that month gets $100. Our Charity Duck Race has been the designated beneficiary in May of almost every year. He has also given our Club a tour of the station to see how the program comes together and to meet his colleagues. Please join us this evening to hear an insightful presentation by Rob on how he actually makes those weather forecasts, and help us celebrate a milestone in the development of the speakers series.
