Taylor Jackson, Maritime Association of SC

December 13 (Daniel Island Club) – Taylor Jackson, President and CEO, Maritime Association of South Carolina. Taylor was named President and CEO in August so she is brand new on the job. The Maritime Association connects all of the entities who support maritime commerce. This is a broad group of organizations that include the Ports Authority, branch pilots, the Coast Guard, dredging operations, maritime security, the towing companies, Palmetto Railways, the ocean shippers like Mediterranean Shipping Corp, financial firms like banks that lend to the maritime industry and the insurance companies who insure the equipment and cargo, the stevedores, and the longshoremen. Charleston for years was a Navy town. While that is no longer the case, its economy is very much based on the success of the maritime industry.
