About the event

Gil Kerlikowske, former Chief of Police for Seattle, former Commissioner, U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Following the riots in Charleston over the Memorial Day Weekend, the Charleston Police Department was criticized for not responding forcefully enough. How should the police respond to a riot situation? Gil and two of his colleagues wrote a Commentary in the P&C which he will talk about this morning. He is well-qualified to speak on the topic having spent his entire career in law enforcement. He has been the Chief of Police for four different cities, including nine years as COP in Seattle. Perhaps he will also share his thoughts on the so-called “Autonomous Zone” created by protestors in Seattle, or the topic of police brutality – another issue he had to deal with in Seattle. So much to talk about. So little time.
