February 25 -- Visit to City of Charleston, Forensic Lab. Details to be confirmed. Our own CSI. The City built a brand new facility on Bees Ferry Road in West Ashley which opened last year. It gets to do all sorts of really cool stuff like body fluid identification, digital analysis, crime scene investigation, serial number restoration, fire debris, and seized drugs. It can help identify perpetrators of both violent and non-violent crimes, test evidence from sexual assault cases, exclude innocent people, assist in identifying missing persons, and help to reduce the case backlog of surrounding labs. Sounds like a fascinating place to visit.
