August 4 (Zoom)– Kate Wehunt, Executive Director, The Formation Project, A Human Trafficking Survivor. 

South Carolina is a major center for sex trafficking. Most women kidnapped by strangers are desperate because of addiction or lack of education. Kat notes that they are “overwhelmingly marginalized: transgender, undocumented, impoverished, or women of color.” She wasn’t. She was white, grew up with good grades, and a stable family income. How could this happen? An older man began to traffic her at age 14. She escaped and is now on a mission to help other women by sharing her story so that other victims can recognize abuse.
