August 31 -- (Zoom) Elizabeth Fisher, Co-Owner Fisher Recycling. With Rotary’s new focus on the environment having Elizabeth speak to us is very timely. Fisher Recycling recycles commercial and residential glass from Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties. Most of the glass that we think we are recycling when we put out our trash ends up in landfills. This is a growing problem which the Fisher family is on a mission to change. The company was founded in 1992 by Chris Fisher as a one-person operation. It has grown over the years and now has warehouse space on the old Navy Base and a fleet of re-cycling vehicles for pickups. The recycled glass becomes custom made countertops, wet bars, loose glass aggregate for landscaping and decorative purposes. In addition to glass Fisher is recycling aluminum, plastic, tin, office paper, newspaper, magazines, and cardboard. Perhaps we can convince them to give us a tour?
